This Earth Day, millions of Americans will be talking about…
- Water and air pollution
- Species extinction
- Suburban sprawl
- Deforestation
- Climate change
- Energy shortages
- Natural resource depletion
- Greenhouse gas emissions
NPG works to educate all Americans regarding the catastrophic effects of population growth on our nation’s environment, resources, and overall quality of life. More people put even more strain on our already over-burdened ecosystem…
…and many scientists agree that no amount of recycling, carpooling, reducing consumption, “green” technology, or “smart growth” will EVER be enough to reduce the impact of population growth on our environment. Think about it!
U.S. population is currently more than 330 million people, and we are growing by an average of one person every 40 seconds. Over the last 10 years we have added more than 18 million people to the United States! Even if we used every available method of conservation, we may never negate the environmental damage caused by constantly adding more consumers. (And remember – in America, we still consume resources at much higher rates.)
NPG advocates non-coercive, voluntary policies which would slow, halt, and eventually reverse U.S. population growth – so that, over the course of several generations, we can reach a smaller, truly sustainable size. Our goal is a population size that can preserve a strong, livable American environment for future generations!
