Dear Administrator Regan:
Negative Population Growth proudly serves as the nation’s premiere organization to educate the American public and civic leaders about the devastating effects of overpopulation on our environment, resources, and standard of living.
We believe that our nation is already vastly overpopulated in terms of the long-range carrying capacity of its resources and environment. We also believe America is now teetering on the edge of irreversible environmental damage caused by the lack of a cohesive National Population Policy.
While many still remember a 2020 Census Bureau report that indicated the U.S. experienced a slight decline in population during the worst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the same Census Bureau now estimates that the U.S. population will grow from today’s 335 million people to over 400 million as early as 2050.
Therefore, we ask you to ensure that the EPA adopts an agency-wide practice of including a discussion of the ever-growing U.S. population and its impact on our environment in all of its policy decisions. We believe that by doing so, you send a clear message to the nation that our leaders in Washington are committed to maintaining a healthy and sensible balance between the environment and its people.
NPG’s members nationwide share your passion for the bounty of all that our land, lakes, mountains, and other natural resources offer. We also believe that having a clean and healthy environment for the very long term is as much of a right as it is a reasonable expectation. The EPA’s public declaration that henceforth it will include the environmental impact of population growth in all its discussions will go a long way to ensure a safe and healthy environment for future generations.
Sincerely,
Concerned Members of
Negative Population Growth
