HAPPY BIRTHDAY, AMERICA!
As the United States celebrates its 250th Birthday, we are reminded of the many treasures our nation holds. We enjoy thousands of miles of open, undeveloped space in our National Parks and Forests. Despite some notable challenges, nearly all American children receive a good education through our public school system. Most Americans can find suitable employment, rent or own a home, and raise a family if they choose. Our nation is truly one of the best places to live in the world and we should be proud of our collective accomplishments.
Nearly every problem our nation faces – from climate change and dwindling energy supplies to social problems such as school crowding and housing shortages – is caused and worsened by our large and growing population. Conversely, these problems would be less severe, fewer in number, and more easily mitigated with a smaller U.S. population.
Negative Population Growth, Inc. (NPG) – America’s premier organization devoted to the study of U.S. population size and growth – was founded in 1972 to educate all Americans, including our nation’s political and academic leaders, regarding the need for policies designed to slow, halt, and eventually reverse population growth. A smaller, truly sustainable population would certainly prove beneficial as we strive to protect our environment, economy, and quality of life for future generations.
To achieve our goal, NPG supports policies such as reductions in legal immigration to no more than 200,000 admissions each year; an end to all illegal immigration by enforcing every law on the books; and voluntary, non-coerced acceptance of the two-child family concept. Working together, these policy guidelines will, over the course of several generations, allow our nation to begin to shrink in size and eventually reach a smaller, truly sustainable level. NPG’s primary mission is to educate all Americans regarding these issues and to bring more thoughtful people to our side of the table.
As the United States celebrates its 250th Birthday, we invite you to join our efforts to ensure our nation will see additional major milestones. The future of your children and grandchildren is very much at stake. Do you want to live in a nation of 500 million people? This is your chance to get involved with something that could truly determine our fate.
