An Open Letter To America’s
Supreme Court Justices On
Ensuring A Complete Population
Count In The 2020 U.S. Census

As you make your final decision on Department of Commerce v. New York which will set the guidelines for carrying out the 2020 U.S. Census, we appeal to you to follow the language of the U.S. Constitution.

Toward that end, we ask you to focus your ruling to ensure that the national census counts every person residing in the nation.

THUS, WE URGE YOU TO REJECT THE MOVE TO ADD A MANDATORY “CITIZENSHIP QUESTION” TO 2020 U.S. CENSUS FORMS.

We take this action in the belief that America’s population numbers are already spinning out-of-control and such a question will potentially deter a huge number of people from participating in this all-important decennial count. With estimates of as many as 20 million undocumented immigrants presently living within America’s borders, a final census count that could fail to include a large portion of these individuals in the final population numbers would be a huge travesty.

Such a dangerous undercount will surely have troublesome consequences in deciding political representation as well as overall distribution of federal assistance in the next decade. In addition, those who end up using ‘false’ 2020 population totals to project future population levels decades from now will be working with skewed numbers that would negatively impact critical long-term planning.

The bottom line is that the final goal must be a U.S. Census that counts 100% of the people living in our country. Only a fully accurate count will provide an honest picture of how our nation is fast-moving toward unsustainable population levels and motivate our nation’s leaders to take action now to slow, halt and eventually reverse population growth. We look forward to your positive ruling to ensure that the final numbers from the 2020 Census give a TRUE AND COMPLETE picture of America. Thank you.
