This Earth Day, millions of Americans will be talking about…
As America celebrates another Earth Day, tens of thousands of members of Negative Population Growth take great pride in also celebrating NPG’s 49th Anniversary.
Our nation’s first Earth Day helped inspire key scientists, academics, political leaders and citizens to unite and create NPG just two years later. Working together we have battled to halt runaway population growth and harmful immigration policies that threaten the future of our country. Today, our mission looms larger than ever.
We need to constantly remind our elected leaders and all Americans that many of our environmental problems — global warming, the lack of clean air, water, and energy, and the wanton destruction of vital wetlands, forests and other natural habitats, to name just a few — are caused by the size and growth of our population.
Today’s skyrocketing population growth and out-of-control immigration severely threaten the quality of life that we have come to take for granted. That is why NPG continues to fight for a National Population Policy that will put an end to today’s “growth at any cost” mindset and set America on course to a more sustainable future.
Population growth impacts all of our lives and endangers our fragile environment. In order to best protect our nation and world from continued environmental destruction, we must greatly reduce our population numbers, until we reach a smaller, truly sustainable level.
