2016 Progress Report FormTOP

The truth is – when it comes to our nation’s future, we face greater challenges today than ever before. The solutions are not easy, but it has never been more urgent that we continue our mission.

Since our founding in 1972, NPG has had one primary objective: to educate the American public and policy makers regarding the devastating effects of population growth. Our present population is double what our nation’s environment and resources can sustain. This is not a passing concern, or a small problem that technology will resolve. This is nothing short of a crisis, one that threatens the quality of life for every American – both present and future.

Within the pages of our NEW April 2016 NPG Progress Report, you will find information on several valuable NPG programs designed to foster a greater understanding of population growth. Our great success in reaching the next generation of citizen activists and allies has depended entirely on the generosity and dedication of members like you. Once you review our latest Progress Report – and see how busy NPG has been in the fight for America’s future…

The facts are very simple: America’s environment, wildlife, natural resources, air, open spaces, energy and water supplies, food, housing, and quality of life are already beyond their carrying capacity. We cannot produce sufficient quantities of what we need, cannot establish technology that provides results to meet our demand, cannot fully replenish what we are destroying, and cannot import these shortages for an indefinite period.

America simply has a larger population than our ecosystem and infrastructure can support.

Our everyday crises are inexorably tied to our growing population. More people mean more trash, pollution, traffic, crowding, development, and higher consumption of dwindling resources. U.S. population currently stands at 323 million people – and we are growing by one birth every 8 seconds and one new immigrant arriving every 27 seconds. If these trends continue, the U.S. is projected to add another 77 million people by mid-century – reaching 400 million by 2050.

For decades, we have maintained a powerful and far-reaching Publications program, distributed hard-hitting Press Releases and national Advertisements, and engaged America’s students through our annual Scholarship Contests and NPG Teacher’s Packets. And as the November elections rapidly approach, we are hard at work with NPG’s Educate the Candidates Campaign – reaching out to every single candidate for President to provide them with the real facts about immigration-driven population growth in the U.S.

Overpopulation is an issue of environmental sustainability, centered on numbers alone. Our nation cannot survive, let alone prosper, until we reduce its population. That is our duty as American citizens – to be stewards of a nation that can be enjoyed by our children and grandchildren.

The result of our responsible choices today will ensure an America that is strong, vibrant, and welcoming for generations to come. NPG is prepared to continue our history of defending the environment by advocating policies which work to slow, halt, and eventually reverse U.S. population growth.

You can be assured that I stand firm in my commitment to our critical message. We must not waver in our resolve, and our agenda is more ambitious than ever before. Now more than ever, we must work together for a livable America for future generations – and we must ensure that as many citizens as possible stand beside us in this important fight. Thank you for your loyalty to NPG.
