The root cause of the water scarcity described in the following article is overpopulation. Now 6.6 billion, our world population already far exceeds the long-range carrying capacity of our environment and resources, yet we continue to grow rapidly by some 75 million each year. We need to halt and, as soon as possible, reverse world population growth, so that after an interim period of population reduction world population can be stabilized at a sustainable level, far lower than today's.
