Our Staff

Donald Mann, President (1922-2021)
Don graduated in June 1943 from Wesleyan University, Middletown, CT with a degree in liberal arts. He spent the next three years as an officer in the Navy amphibious forces in World War II.

After the war he pursued graduate studies, first at Columbia University (philosophy) and then at l’Institut d’Etudes Politiques (economics) in Paris. His business career was mainly in the international field, and led to long assignments in such countries as Lebanon, Morocco, Belgium, and France.

An ardent environmentalist for many years, in 1971 he came to realize that, strangely, there was no organization that even tried to adequately address the problem of overpopulation – the root cause of our overwhelming environmental and resource problems. He was convinced that a new organization to address the problem was badly needed; therefore, with a great deal of help from many sources and individuals, he founded NPG, Inc. in 1972.

Craig Lewis, Executive Director
Craig joined NPG in 1999 and is responsible for the daily operations and program management of the organization, as well as oversight of our staff. His years at NPG have exposed him to the many aspects of the field of population growth, allowing him to contribute valuable insight to our mission and direction. Craig holds degrees in History and International Studies from West Virginia University.

Edwin S. Rubenstein, Director of Research
President of ESR Research, Ed Rubenstein is an economist and public policy expert with experience in business and journalism. He was a contributing editor at Forbes Magazine and economics editor at National Review, where his “Right Data” column was featured for more than a decade. He has written extensively on the economics of immigration. TV appearances include Firing Line, Bill Moyers, McNeil-Lehr, CNBC, and Debates-Debates.  From 1997 to 2002 Mr. Rubenstein was Director of Research at the Hudson Institute, a public policy think tank then headquartered in Indianapolis. He is a graduate of Johns Hopkins (BA) and Columbia University (MA, public finance).

Theresa Mickendrow, Assistant to the Executive Director
Theresa joined NPG in 1993. Beyond her role as assistant to our Executive Director, Theresa also manages NPG’s advertising program and orchestrates much of our annual scholarship program. Her work consistently advances the NPG message and aids us in our mission to slow, halt, and eventually reverse U.S. population growth.

Deborah Miller, Webmaster and Research Assistant
Deborah joined NPG in 2005. She maintains and updates NPG’s website and social media pages, as well as providing valuable research assistance to our Executive staff. Prior to coming to NPG, she studied communications at the University of Southern Maine and lived in New York City to pursue a career in the music industry. Deborah has extensive IT knowledge, and her technological savvy keeps our organization’s online presence up-to-date and running smoothly.

Roxan Ordal, Program Assistant
Roxan joined NPG in 2018. She writes many of our communications pieces including emails and press releases. Roxan also works closely with senior management to develop and expand programs, supervise staff, and manage various projects from concept to completion. With prior non-profit experience and a Bachelor’s degree in History, Roxan is able to significantly contribute to our overall mission.

Diane Saco, Special Projects Assistant
Diane joined NPG in 2018. She provides valuable support for NPG’s special projects. Diane is a retired RN and graduated from New York University with a BS in Nursing and a MA in Nursing Administration. Diane’s vast NPG experience makes her a valuable addition to our organization.
