NPG, a national membership organization devoted to population issues, invites students to compete in our Video Scholarship Contest.

Without critical changes, U.S. population is projected to reach 438 million people in less than 40 years.  Capture on film how this projected growth will negatively affect the United States socially, economically and environmentally.  Submissions must be between 1 and 3 minutes.

The NPG Scholarship Committee will select six (6) winning videos.  Videos will be judged on originality, and evidence of critical thinking.  All decisions are within the discretion of NPG scholarship judges and all decisions are final.  All scholarships will be paid directly to the college or university to be applied to the account of the winner.

Eligibility requirements:

1. Applicant must be a U.S. Citizen or legal permanent resident.
2. Applicant must be a senior in high school or a college freshman, sophomore or junior in an undergraduate program. 
   
3. Applicant must be attending a school within the United States, or operated overseas by the U.S. government.
   
4. The video must be between one and three minutes in length and
   2 (two) DVD copies must be submitted on Region 1 or regionless DVDs playable on all standard and commercial DVD players.  Entries playable only in CD-ROM formats will not be eligible. Winning entries will be required to submit a Quicktime file in the resolution and codec in which it was shot and edited in originally. Your submission must be your own original creation, not made for an employer, and must not materially infringe on other sources or copyrights.  We do not require that actor releases be submitted, but we recommend entrants use them.  We require that all persons that appear in the video or other materials have signed a release similar to the one that appears here:  Release Form
   
5. Each entry must be accompanied by a completed application form and each DVD must be labeled with the entrants name, address and telephone number.                             
   
6. Applicant must sign and date the enclosed application.  Parent or Guardian signature is also required for applicants under 18.  All submissions are subject to the NPG Privacy Policy available here:  Privacy Policy
   
7. Relatives of employees or directors of NPG are not eligible. Not valid where prohibited
   
8. Only one entry per student. 
   
9. If you would like proof that your video has arrived, please provide a self-addressed, stamped envelope with your application and video.
   
10. All Entries must be received by June 30, 2012.  Those postmarked prior to due date, but received after the deadline will NOT be accepted.
